- I must agree. But from a practical point of view, I can't see supporting a
- previous Microsoft product for current development purposes. Any product our
- outfit produces is going to be Win95, not Win3.1.
-
- Scale that up by a factor of thousands, and you'll see why it won't make a bit
- of difference three years from now that many of your old 16-bit and 8-bit apps
- don't work under Win95.
-
- >95 sucks - it came off my PC in two weeks - fed up with inability to work

-
- I'm in a more favorable situation here -- I can overlook the flaws of the
- present because I'm preparing for the future. We have clients running Windows
- 3.1... however, we do not support Windows 3.1. If they wish to integrate their
- Win3.1 machines with our server, they must run the software from DOS.

- Well, there do exist some good things. For example, multiple dos boxes are
- nice, for those programs that'll run in them. Real file names are nice too. Too
- bad that most programs still don't support them. And fully pre-emptive
- multitasking is nice too. It's also nice that a defective program usually
- doesn't take down the entire machine... that's what irritates me most about
- real-mode operating systems. (I've seen Unix programs crash and burn all day
- long without the machine even flinching, but Dos and Win3.1 programs... ah,
- there's another story!).
